Jour 1: Cordoba
ITALY / CÓRDOBA / SIERRA CHICA (-/-/D) If playing polo is your passion, we’re taking you to its homeland—with the perfect program for you! Fun, fast, and thrilling, polo is a fantastic team sport that combines riding skills with ball-handling precision. It’s one of the oldest team sports in the world, dating back centuries before Christ. Brought to Argentina by the British in the late 19th century, it quickly gained popularity among landowners and soon became a symbol of the Argentine upper class. And what better setting than the wide-open expanses of gaucho country? Today, polo is Argentina’s national sport, with more than 250 polo clubs across the country—especially in the provinces of Mendoza and Córdoba. It’s said that this equestrian sport evolved from cavalry training drills used by the British military, and indeed, the downward swing of the mallet resembles the saber slash used by cavalry soldiers. Always considered the sport of kings, princes, dukes, and officers, polo brings to mind medieval jousts—where riders face off in a contest of balance, power, and skill. You’ll be based at a stunning 15,000-acre Estancia nestled in the wilderness of Córdoba’s Sierra Chica. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned rider, you’ll have the chance to try polo for the first time or improve your skills. This unique holiday combines sport and nature, with daily polo sessions and scenic treks in the surrounding hills. Pick-up at Córdoba Airport (COR) between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM and transfer (approx. 1 hour) to the Estancia. (Transfers outside this time range available on request, with extra cost.) Dinner and overnight stay at the Estancia.
